Dahlin Group Architecture Planning Takes New Honors for Active Adult Residential In 50+ Housing Council's 15th Annual SAGE Awards
Magnolia Courts Revitalizes Its Infill Location With Condos, Fitness and Clubhouse Amenities and Proximity to Shopping and Services in Downtown La Verne, California
Pleasanton, California, March 4, 2010 -- Dahlin Group Architecture Planning has earned new recognition for senior housing design, with a SAGE (Senior Achievement and General Excellence) Award from the 50+ Housing Council, part of the Building Industry Association of Southern California. The awards honor innovation and excellence in senior housing and related senior services.
Dahlin Group took a top honor in the “on the boards” category for Magnolia Courts, an active adult community in La Verne, California that is planned for a September opening. Magnolia Courts includes 101 Craftsman style condominiums in a setting of courtyards, open space and clubhouse amenities.
Designed for Hsientein La Verne Investment, LLC, the project reflects close collaboration with the City of LaVerne, CalTrans and other governmental entities seeking appropriate development for the 3.28-acre infill site. It incorporates such smart growth principles as higher density infill housing that yields a walkable lifestyle. Also promoting greener, more sustainable living are the car-and-a-halfgarages that can accommodate a compact car and a smart car or neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV). Strengthening healthier living is a clubhouse tailored to active adults and inspired in part by a sports fitness doctor who is one of the development partners. “Magnolia Court reflects the growing importance of the active adult market, infill development and greener, more sustainable design and planning,” said John Thatch, Dahlin Group Principal of Design. “We are delighted to see it honored in such a competitive arena as the SAGE program, which fielded a record number of entries for its 2009 program.”
A six-member panel of judges reviewed the nominated projects. It included past winners, past presidents of the 50+ Housing Council and others selected for their expertise in the field of 50+ housing.
